Volunteering

Fri, 23rd - Sun, 25th September 2022

During this workshop you will learn basic techniques to harmonise your home or workspace.

By communicating with invisible dimensions of space, you will be able to identify potential blockages and give impulses to clear them.

Gea Viva eco island retreat is a place to experience eco living and a deep connection with nature. We usually spend the majority of our time outdoors. I welcome volunteers here who are committed to raising their awareness of nature, others and themselves. The minimum stay is two weeks.

The site is designed according to Permaculture principles and we planted 130 fruit trees in addition to the 175 olive trees, which were already on site. We also grow medicinal herbs and have a vegetable garden. Being completely off-grid, we collect water from the rain, have compost toilets, solar power and a solar shower. We have also created a range of eco buildings, such as a cosy outdoor kitchen with a bread oven, a dome tent, a strawbale eco cabin and a tiny house. Guests and volunteers come here to spend time outdoors, gather new experience and connect with like-minded people. The site is 15 minutes' walk from the sea and the harbour village of Milna, where you will find shops and cafes.

Volunteers work four hours a day from Monday to Saturday for free accommodation and food. We usually work in the morning, as it tends to get hot around lunchtime. During Winter, the weather is more unstable, so please bring a rainjacket and sturdy boots for walking in wet grass.

This year I  need help with the following:

•  Covering the timber roof over the caravan

•  Pruning and mulching trees (March/April 2024)

•  Fertilizing trees and shredding cuttings(March/April 2024)

•  Gardening ( April 2024)

• Creating a water catchment area (Spring 2024)

• Re-roofing the outdoor kitchen (Spring 2024)

•  Dry-stone walling and some painting

We prepare and have breakfast and lunch together. Evening meals are usually separate. Please note that the kitchen is vegetarian. We might be able to cater for vegan or gluten -free diets if we discuss this before your arrival. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted on site. It is important to me that we are mindful of each other here and also share household tasks.

During the colder months, accommodation is in a heated caravan and a tiny house, between April and October usually in tents. Showers are outdoors and we heat up water to wash indoors in Winter.

I offer yoga classes twice a week, which you are welcome to attend.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Sabine
